What you need to know about moving out of Halls

Posted 6 days ago

It's almost time to say farewell πŸ‘‹

With summer around the corner, lots of you will be saying goodbye to your uni room soon. This part of your university chapter is almost over (πŸ˜ͺ) but fear not, our handy moving-out article has everything you need to know to make the move out process as easy as possible.

Check out date πŸ“…

If your contact is coming to an end on Saturday 13th June, your reception team will have been in touch to confirm your check out date and time. Unsure? Just pop along to reception to ask.

Summer accommodation 🌞

Need to stay in Halls over summer? Good news! Crown is our summer stay option this year. All you need to do is pop a Summer Stay request in on My Liverpool.

Already received an offer for summer accommodation? Stay where you are and we'll email you when it's time to move rooms.

Checking out πŸ”‘

Before you close your door for one final time, check for any left items! Look under the bed, in cupboards, wardrobes as you don't want to be half way home and realise you forgot something important. Plus, it's your responsibility to remove all your items from your flat.

If you leave any high value items behind (e.g. passport, drivers license, laptop), your Hall will contact you and store for a short period. All other items will be donated to charity, recycled or disposed of.

When checking out, please:

  • Secure your windows and doors
  • Return your key card and any metal keys to reception, don't forget to sign out
  • Check your mail box
  • Return any trollies to reception as quickly as possible

No mess, no stress 🧼

Before you hand in your keys, it's time to take your room from messy to move-out ready. Avoid an unwanted cleaning charge this summer and be sure to:

  • Clean your room and ensuite thoroughly (we're talking vacuuming your room, wiping the surfaces, cleaning any spills)
  • Remove all personal items from your room, ensuite, kitchen cupboards, fridge/freezer, communal area
  • Donate your unwanted items to British Heart Foundation & Fareshare. If it can't be donated, please dispose and recycle the rest of your items

Leave Liverpool Tidy πŸ’š

Donating your unwanted items has never been easier! Save your belongings from going to waste and donate them to two amazing charities without having to even leave your hall.

Donate unwanted clothes, shoes, books, accessories, cutlery, small electricals to British Heart Foundation. Simply bag up your items in a Leave Liverpool Tidy bag (collect from reception from 18th May) or in your own bag and label it 'LLT'.

Donate unopened, non-perishable food items to Fareshare e.g. dried pasta, jars, tins.

Change addresses πŸ“Œ

There's nothing worse than ordering something online and realising it's gone to your old accommodation!

Don't forget to change your online banking, apple pay, amazon, asos account, whatever it may be, to your new address. Be sure to update family and friends too. Your Hall can hold items for a small period of time but eventually it will be returned to sender.
