What to pack for moving into Halls

You open your suitcase and think where do I begin, right?
It can be tempting to pack more than you need for uni, you know, 'just in case'. Overpacking and packing for every eventuality can help us feel more prepared but in reality, we end up with so much stuff to carry, unpack and then repack at the end of the year.
Our advice is to pack light, see what your flatmates might want to buy together on arrival and save money!

Here's what you'll need to bring with you to get set up in your new home:
Consider what you can bring with you and what you might want to buy on arrival...
💭 Personal:
- Documentation / ID e.g. passport (in case you want to work)
- Clothes (every day clothes for uni, a more formal option, sportwear)
- Shoes
- Coat/jacket
- Medication
- Mini first aid kit

- Stationary
- Book/laptop bag
🍴 Kitchen
- Cupboard essentials e.g. tins, jars
- Food for the first few days e.g. bread, pasta, milk
- 2 x plates

- Glasses
- Mugs
- Spatula, grater, chopping knives
- Tea towels
- Washing up liquid, surface cleaner spray, sponges, cloths

There's a couple of extra things you might need to think about...
- Travel documentation (passport, visa)
- Any necessary medical records
- Copy of CAS document
- Photocopies of any other important documents
- Warm winter jacket and waterproof
- Clothes for layering in the winter
- UK adaptor (any appliances and electricals must have a UKCA/CE mark or BS Kitemark)
Mains powered fairy lights, LED strip lights, plug in diffusers, candles, incense sticks or anything else which may constitute a fire hazard or require a naked flame are not permitted in Halls.
